One of the greatest tricks the beauty industry ever pulled was making people believe that they could get rid of their pores – and selling a huge collection of products off the back of it.

As you can read in our article: The hard truth about pores and why you can’t shrink or minimise them, the size of your pores is genetic. It’s not possible to get rid of them, shrink them, minimise them – whatever you want to call it – but it is possible to keep them clear.

There are also things you can do to prevent making your pores look bigger than they already are. This includes targeting oiliness because sebum can cause your pores to swell, which in turn causes them to become clogged and leads to breakouts.

You can also buy products, usually with silicone in them, which blur your pores. This means they simply mask their appearance, but they don’t get rid of them.

Until recently, Benefit POREfessional’s range of primers focused on the latter but it recently expanded to include skincare that promises to do the former – clear your pores, balance sebum production, and keep your skin looking fresh.

Here’s everything you need to know about Benefit’s Pore Care range.

The majority of products in the Benefit POREfessional skincare line are available in full sizes, and minis – other than the Sip moisturiser.

In addition to the products, which include cleansers, masks, and toners you can buy a cleansing wand. Its dual-headed design is used for cleaning your face, but also applying your face mask.

The rest of the lineup includes:

  • The POREfessional Deep Retreat Mask: A clay mask designed to draw impurities from your pores and help with blemishes. A full-size version costs £35, or you can buy a mini version for £18.
  • The POREfessional Tight n Toned Toner: This toner promises to reduce the appearance of your pores and chemically exfoliate the skin with the addition of AHAs and PHAs. These are compounds that penetrate different layers of the skin to clear out the gunk, dead skin cells, and bacteria. A full-size version costs £35, or you can buy a mini version for £18.
  • The POREfessional Get Unblocked Oil Cleanser: There are two cleansers in the Benefit Pore Care range and they’re designed to be used together as part of a double cleansing ritual. This involves using an oil or balm to melt makeup and dirt and remove residue from the first cleanser using a foaming cleanser. The full-size version costs £32, the mini version costs £16.
  • The POREfessional Good Cleanup Foam Cleanser: This foaming cleanser can be used with the oil cleanser, or on its own. It promises to clear the skin and help balance oiliness. The full-size version costs £26, the mini version costs £13.50.
  • The POREfessional Double Cleanse Set: Alternatively, you can get the mini oil, and foaming cleanser for £25.50 when bought as a set and, for a limited time, you’ll also get a sample size of the Benefit clay mask.
  • The POREfessional Speedy Smooth Gel Clay Mask: Like the Deep Retreat mask, this mask contains clay that draws impurities from the skin while the gel consistency is great for oily skin. It’s designed to leave your skin smooth. The full-size version costs £35.
  • The POREfessional Smooth Sip Moisturizer: This moisturiser is described as lightweight and refreshing and it promises to smooth your skin texture, hydrate it and leave it looking clear. The full-size version costs £35.
