Bobbi Brown Face Base cheap alternative from Aldi

The best Aldi beauty alternatives for Bobbi Brown, Benefit, Pixi and more

8th January 2023 | Author: Jenny Tai

We’ve put some of the best Aldi beauty alternatives to the test to see if its Lacura range can live up to the likes of Benefit, Bobbi Brown, Pixi, L’Oreal Paris and more

Aldi not only offers great savings on groceries but it’s becoming renowned for its beauty bargains that are almost identical to some of the best-loved and cult products from the likes of Bobbi Brown, Benefit, Pixi and more.

In many cases, the Aldi beauty alternatives look so similar to the original products that we wonder how they can get away with it…(if you don’t know about the Aldi vs M&S caterpillar cake copyright debacle it’s worth checking out. Purely for the memes.)

Yet just because they *look* the same, doesn’t mean they work and perform in the same way. So we decided to put some of these alternatives to the test! Keep scrolling to see our favourite Aldi products and the icons that they can replace.

We’ve also started listing a whole host of other makeup alternatives for Charlotte Tilbury, Huda Beauty and more here. You can also grab a makeup and skincare bargain on our best cheap beauty advent calendars page

♥︎ NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

Save £21.01

THE ICON: The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (£25) concealer is one of the most hydrating and radiant concealers we’ve ever used. It has a great formula that glides on smoothly and which offers medium-to-high coverage. It doesn’t leave your skin looking cakey either.

THE ALDI ALTERNATIVE: Aldi’s Lacura Radiant Concealer (£3.99) not only has a near-on identical creamy consistency to the NARS version but it also offers medium-to-high coverage that hides blemishes and under-eye dark circles with ease. Sadly it’s only available in five shades but we love the natural matte finish it gives us.

♥︎ Pixi Glow Tonic vs Lacura Healthy Glow Tonic

Save £15.01

THE ICON: The Pixi Glow Tonic (£18) contains 5% glycolic acid to gently remove dead skin to reveal healthy glowing skin. It’s revered by makeup artists, skincare experts and influencers alike for helping to clear and brighten the skin.

THE ALDI ALTERNATIVE: Lacura Healthy Glow Glycolic Toner (£2.99) also contains 5% glycolic acid and removes dead skin. The packaging is only slightly different, yet the smell and texture are just like Pixi’s icon.

♥︎ Bobbi Brown Face Base vs Lacura Vitabase Primer

Save £42.51 (in-store only)

THE ICON: The iconic Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base (£48.50) is a favourite among Bobbi Brown fans because it leaves the skin hydrated and smooth and is the perfect base for your makeup routine. This Face Base can be used as a moisturiser or a primer. It contains shea butter to help keep skin hydrated, with the help of Vitamin B, C and E. All with a fresh, zesty orange scent.

THE ALDI ALTERNATIVE: This is the most impressive of the Aldi beauty products we’ve tried. The Lacura Vitabase Primer (£5.99) is a staggering £42 cheaper than the Bobbi Brown version while offering so many of the same ingredients and benefits. It contains shea butter, Vitamin B, C and E and it works just as well as a moisturiser, and primer. Sadly, it’s not possible to buy the Vitabase primer online from Aldi, however, we have found it on eBay. The downside is that it costs three times as much when bought from here, so it depends on how desperate you are to try it. (Plus £15 is still a lot cheaper than £48.50 for Bobbi Brown’s version!)

♥︎ L’Oreal Paris Revitalift vs Lacura Rejuvelate

Save £9.50

Loreal Paris Revitalift cheap alternative from Aldi Lacuramamabella | mamabella

THE ICON: The L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Day Cream (£12.99) is one of the best anti-ageing creams on the high street. For just £13, you get an anti-wrinkle cream that helps smooth out the skin’s surface. It keeps the skin feeling firm and the added SPF 30 is a bonus that can help the appearance of wrinkles and age spots over time by protecting you from sun damage.

THE ALDI ALTERNATIVE: £13 is already a decent price to pay for smoother, younger-looking skin yet Aldi has outdone L’Oreal Paris with its Lacura Rejuvelate Day Cream (£3.49). It continues SPF30, it helps give the feeling of hydration to the skin. It reduces visible signs of ageing and it’s left our skin feeling smooth and firm.

♥︎ Laura Mercier Setting Powder vs Lacura Loose Setting Powder

Save £25.01 (in-store only)

THE ICON: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (£30) is a favourite among many makeup lovers. It gives a lovely silky finish to the skin, and, being translucent means it suits all skin tones. We particularly like using this to set the concealer around our eyes because it prevents creasing and leaves a smooth matte look on the skin, without making it look dull.

THE ALDI ALTERNATIVE: The Lacura Loose Setting Powder (£4.99) is another in-store only purchase and this is likely because Aldi expects it to be hugely popular, so it wants to get people shopping in the stores in the hope they’ll buy other things too! It comes in two shades: Light/Medium and Medium/Dark and is a lightweight powder, just like Laura Mercier’s, that helps blur fine lines and sets makeup with the same matte finish.

♥︎ Benefit They’re Real vs Lacura Too Legit

Save £17.51

Benefit Theyre Real mascara cheap alternative Aldi Lacuramamabella | mamabella

THE ICON: We love Benefit mascaras. The range has something for every lash type and look but one of our favourites is the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara (£23.50). It gives lashes a bolder and more fluttery look by lengthening curls to add fullness and volume.

THE ALDI ALTERNATIVE: The Lacura Too Legit Mascara (£5.99) gives the same fluttery look to your lashes as the Benefit icon and it’s so popular, Aldi has had to restock this mascara multiple times to keep up with the demand. For us, it gives the perfect everyday look for your lashes that can be ramped up for the evening.
