The Amazon Prime Early Access Sale takes place from 11 October and gives Prime members a chance to get a jump on their Christmas shopping and beat the Black Friday rush
Not content with dominating online sales with its annual Amazon Prime Day event, the global retailer has announced plans for a new event.
Officially known as the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale – or Prime Day 2 – the shopping event is due to take place from 11-12 October.
For these two days, shoppers across 15 countries will get access to hundreds of thousands of deals in all of Amazon’s largest categories. From fashion to toys, and from makeup to skincare and hair care.
“Across the UK, our Prime members will get the opportunity to start shopping some of the season’s top deals before anyone else with Amazon’s new Prime Early Access Sale,” said John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager of Amazon. “You may not be ready for Panto and mince pies but with fewer than 90 days until Christmas, it’s not too early to start planning your shopping for the festive season ahead, and this exclusive 48-hour sales event will help people save money and shop smarter as we head into the festive season.”

Getty Images/iStockphoto What is it? A two-day shopping event that takes place six weeks ahead of Black Friday 2022 and is designed to help people get ahead of their Festive spending. It is described by Amazon as “providing an additional opportunity for members to get their hands on what they need, for less, whilst helping to spread out their seasonal spending.”
When is the Amazon Prime Early Access sale? The event begins 11 October at 12 am BST and runs through 12th October

Why is Amazon having a Prime Early Access sale? It’s a way of getting people to sign up to become Amazon Prime members. Amazon hosts two days of Prime Day deals each year, plus a number of Lightning Deals. These tend to offer the best discounts but are time and stock-limited. The savings are only open to people who have an active Amazon Prime membership, so you’ll need to sign up if you’re not already a member.
How much does it cost to become a Prime member? A standard Amazon Prime plan is £8.99 a month, or you can pay £95 for an annual subscription. If you’re a student, you can get access for £4.49 per month. However, there is a 30-day free trial for new members so if you don’t want to continue with Amazon Prime after the Early Access Sale, you can cancel for free.

Amazon Even if you don’t use Amazon all that much, you’ll end up saving money by becoming an Amazon Prime member. This is because, in addition to access to Prime Day and the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale, you get the following included in the price:
A standard Amazon Prime plan is £7.99 a month, or you can pay £79 for an annual subscription. This works out at around £6.58 a month.
In addition, Amazon runs a charity initiative called AmazonSmile. This allows customers to support their favourite charity at no extra cost to the customer or charity. Year-round, each time customers shop eligible products with AmazonSmile turned on in the Amazon Shopping App, or at smile.amazon.co.uk, Amazon will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price to the customer’s chosen charity.
