Finding your perfect foundation match can be a minefield – so much so, we have an entire article dedicated to doing just that – so we’re thrilled to discover that No7 has launched an AI-powered Foundation Analysis tool to help make it a bit easier.
There are various online tools, as well as manual approaches you can take but the most accurate we’ve found are those which combine AI recommendations with selfies. This is exactly what the No7 tool does.
Try the No7 tool
Once you click Start Now, you’ll be taken to the first screen which asks you what your skin type is. The choices are: Normal, Oily, Combination, or Dry. If you’re unsure, check out our What skin type do I have? guide for help.
You’ll then be asked to select up to three skin concerns that you’re looking to improve – these include fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentations, spots, visible pores, oiliness, and more – before choosing which lifestyle and environmental factors are of most importance to your skin. These range from sun exposure, lack of sleep, temperature changes, pollution, stress, or none.
From here, you’ll pick your ideal foundation coverage and finish, from sheer, light and medium/full, and radiant, natural, and matte.
This entire Foundation Analysis quiz section lasts less than a couple of minutes and you’ll then be asked to enable your device’s camera so the AI tool can analyse your skin tone. It works best in natural daylight without glasses on.

No7 Once a match has been found, you’ll be shown the type of foundation that would best suit your skin above three different shades. The shade in the centre is the shade No7 believes is your best match, however it also shows the shades above and below and you can virtually try all three on within the same window.
Once you’ve found your favourite, click Add To Basket and then go to Checkout to buy. This tool is only currently available in the UK and EEA.
Alternatively, you can use the existing Boots foundation match finder if you want to find a match for all the foundations sold at Boots, not just those made by No7.
