Wishful Chin Lift review: Before and after photos reveal if the new sheet mask is actually worth it

Verdict

The before and after photos show that Wishful’s marketing claims when it comes to the Chin Lift Sculpting sheet mask aren’t hyperbole. If your chin and neck are particular points of concern, the sheet mask is worth the slight discomfort you feel when wearing it.

Each mask costs £8 so isn’t super cheap compared to some sheet masks, but equally isn’t that expensive. It’s affordable enough for you to at least give it a go and see how it works for you.

Pros
  • Noticeably lifted chin for hours
  • Affordable
  • Chin skin felt soft and smooth
Cons
  • Uncomfortable to wear
  • Caused minor irritation to face

Huda Kattan is a makeup icon. As the brains and beauty behind Huda Beauty, she’s a vlogger, entrepreneur, mother, and innovator.

We really rate her makeup line – her New Nude palette is the best eyeshadow palette we’ve ever used – even though it’s pricey so we were excited/intrigued when she branched out with a skincare range called Wishful.

Huda’s first Wishful skin product was the Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub and this scrub was recently been joined by a pair of face masks – the Thirst Trap Cocoon Mask and the Chin Lift Sculpting Mask – plus the Clean Genie Cleansing Balm. The scrub and balm are £30+, but the individual face masks are cheaper at £8.

Described as “a saviour for dehydrated, thirsty skin”, you can read more about the Thirst Trap Cocoon Mask on our Wishful skin hub and we’ve spent the past fortnight putting the mask to the test to see if it really does live up to its claims. You can read more about the mask (and scrub and balm) on our Wishful Skin UK hub.

We’ve also reviewed the Wishful Chin Lift  – a product we didn’t even realise we needed until we used it.

Here is what we thought of the new Wishful Chin Lift Sculpting Mask and you can read more about the science behind how we test skincare to prove that these reviews are as trustworthy and reliable as possible.

Wishful Chin Lift review

The Chin Lift Sculpting Sheet Mask is worn, you guessed it, on your chin. You secure the hooks over your ears and press the woven cotton material around your jaw

Design

The Chin Lift Sculpting Sheet Mask is worn, you guessed it, on your chin. You secure the hooks over your ears and press the woven cotton material around your jaw.

The material its made from is typically used for athletic tape because it mimics the elasticity of your skin and moves in the same way your skin moves.

Within this material in the Chin Lift are ingredients including adenosine, peptides and niacinamide, plus peppermint to cool and calm the skin, yet it doesn’t feel sticky or slimy. You’d barely know any ingredients were on there and they don’t leave any residue on your face.

The cooling and calming effect from the peppermint wasn’t noticeable across any of our tests but after removing the mask, our jawline did look less red and felt smoother.

Comfort

Despite it feeling tight at first, the Wishful Chin Lift soon moulds to your jawline. We suggest you stretch the mask a little by pulling each end before you attach it because we began our first test looking like a pixie when it pushed the tops of our ears out and down.

The Chin Lift manages to put enough pressure on your chin to help lift it without you feeling like your face is restricted too much. You can’t yawn, for example, but it moves enough for you to be able to talk and put forkfuls of noodles in your mouth – yes, we tested it while eating. #LockdownLife.

The instructions advise you leave the mask on for 20-30 minutes and we’re guessing the more your chin needs lifting, the longer you’ll need to keep it in place. We’re in our mid-30s and our chin is starting to droop slightly, but not dramatically so.

Either way, we left the mask on 30 minutes each time and by around the 15-minute mark it became uncomfortable, causing our ears to ache.

Wishful Chin Lift: Before and After

In tests, Huda Beauty claims that 88% agreed their “jawline appeared lifted immediately after use” and the same number said it appeared more defined and sculpted for an average of three hours.

The photo below shows what our chin and jawline looked before we used Wishful skin Chin Lift and immediately after. We’ve super-imposed the “After” image over the top of the original so you can more easily see the difference.

We’ve made the images black and white to make it easier to distinguish between the two images. We’re not sure we would have noticed this difference if we didn’t have photograph evidence to prove it, though. The impact wasn’t that dramatic.

However, as we’ve mentioned, our chin doesn’t need to be drastically lifted so that may explain why.

We also waited three hours and took another photo (below), to see if Wishful Skin’s mask lived up to the hype of keeping your chin looking tight for hours after use.

The differences aren’t quite as stark in these two images  but you can see that the chin still looks lifted, and the jawline sharper, in the second, right-hand After image

Our skin is particularly sensitive on our cheeks and the sides of our face and, while we didn’t get a reaction during use, we have noticed itchy patches and redness in areas where the Chin Lift was press against. The skin also feels a little warm.

That said, the skin on our chin and down onto our neck hasn’t reacted and feels soft and looks clear.

Verdict

We were a little surprised when, of all the products Huda Kattan could have released as part of her new Wishful skin range, she chose a Chin Lift. There’s certainly few other similar products on sale, which may explain the decision; to plug a gap in the market.

It may also be down to the fact that necks and chins are just as likely to lose elasticity as other parts of our face and body as we age, yet the number of products targeting those specific areas are lacking in comparison to typical anti-ageing face creams and body firming lotions.

The before and after photos show that Wishful’s marketing claims when it comes to the Chin Lift Sculpting sheet mask aren’t hyperbole. If your chin and neck are particular points of concern, the sheet mask is worth it.

Each mask costs £8 so isn’t super cheap compared to some sheet masks, but equally isn’t that expensive. It’s affordable enough for you to at least give it a go and see how it works for you.

The downside is that it’s far from a permanent fix, so if you want to maintain your tighter jaw you’ll need to buy it multiple time.
